Gaspee Business Network Open House - Seeks to Unify the Voice of the Business Community

Ken Block and Gary Sasse as featured speakers

Providence, RI- The Gaspee Business Network (GBN, Gaspee.Biz), the incorruptible voice of Rhode Island business, will hold an open-house this Thursday, June 23. to provide concerned business people with information about partnership in its new organization, which seeks to improve the state’s dismal business climate by giving business owners a principled and potent voice on related policy and political issues. In building its member base, GBN will grow its capacity to be an effective voice for reform.

Ken Block, two-time former gubernatorial candidate, government watchdog, and small business owner himself, will be the featured speaker: Block’s Simpatico Software company has joined GBN as a partner. Gary Sasse, former State Director of Administration and current director of the Hassenfeld Institute for Public Integrity, will also address the crowd.....

Also, speaking will be Mike Collins, captain of the GBN steering committee, and Mike Stenhouse, interim director for The Gaspee Project, which recently garnered statewide news exposure for its ongoing mailers calling-out lawmakers for their voting records.

Space is still open for the 5:30 pm event, expected to draw over 150 people, which will be held at the Radisson Hotel across from the airport on Post Road in Warwick and which is open to the media. Free RSVPs and other information about GBN partnerships can be found at Gaspee.Biz, with membership levels beginning at $200 per year.

GBN is directed by a volunteer steering committee, which includes business owners from across the state. In stark contrast to the Providence Chamber of Commerce, the Gaspee Business Network will work consistently to advance policies that benefit the everyday business and the average family, as opposed to the insider special interests. Unlike many other business groups, almost all GBN funds raised will be directly used for advocacy; with no salary and other high overhead cost obligations.

The Gaspee Business Network is an initiative of the nonpartisan The Gaspee Project (GaspeeProject.com), a Rhode Island based 501-C-4 nonprofit, which organizes various constituency groups into action in support of pro-taxpayer, pro-business policies and candidates. More information about GBN partnerships and the steering committee can be found at www.Gaspee.biz.

Of Business People, by Business People, for the People of RI

Providence, RI- The newly launched Gaspee Business Network (GBN) kicked off a two-month radio and social media advertising campaign this week to promote partnerships in its organization, which seeks to improve the state’s dismal business climate by giving business owners a potent and principled voice on related policy and political issues.

Billing itself as “the incorruptible voice of Rhode Island’s business community”, and in stark contrast to the Providence Chamber of Commerce, the Gaspee Business Network will work to advance policies that benefit businesses and the average family, as opposed to special-interest policies.

The 8-week ad campaign on WPRO radio, Facebook, and Twitter will soon include information about an upcoming GBN public forum where business owners will be invited to gather to learn more about the organization’s long-term plans and to partner with the dozens of businesses that have already enlisted. The radio spots can be heard here.

More information about GBN partnerships can be found at www.Gaspee.biz. Partnership levels begin at $200 per year. GBN is directed by an eight person volunteer steering committee, captained by Mike Collins, one of the primary voices against trucker tolls,

Unlike other business groups, almost all GBN funds will be directly used for advocacy; with no salary or other high-overhead cost obligations. The Gaspee Business Network is an initiative of The Gaspee Project (GaspeeProject.com), a Rhode Island based 501-c-4 nonprofit, which organizes various constituency groups into action in support of pro-freedom, pro-business policies and candidates.

Gaspee Business Network launches new small business initiative
Steering committee head to appear WPRO radio at 5:00 pm tonight

Providence, RI- With its mission to build an incorruptible voice of the small business community, the Gaspee Business Network today announced its launch with the goal of improving Rhode Island’s dismal business climate. The Gaspee Business Network (Gaspee.biz) was formed by local small business people, to advance the interests and voices of small business people, where chambers of commerce and other business associations have too often failed to be that reliable voice.

Inspired by the Rhode Island colonists in 1772 who stormed and burned a British ship - the HMS Gaspee - in opposition to the King’s tyranny, the Gaspee Business Network (GBN) is symbolic of business leaders banding together to push back against over-reaching taxes and regulations.

In recruiting partners (members), GBN plans to make its voice heard in three primary areas: direct public advocacy to raise awareness about various business-related issues; legislative lobbying on Smith Hill; and making independent expenditures in General Assembly elections.

“Small business owners have had enough. The trucker-toll fiasco was the final straw for many of us,” said Mike Collins, Captain of the GBN steering committee. “We are fed up with having to deal with ever-increasing tax and regulatory burdens and we are dismayed that virtually all chambers and associations that supposedly support business ... regularly cave in to the ruling class. We are tired of lawmakers telling us what’s best for us. It’s high time that a unified business voice start telling them what’s really in our best interests!”

Collins will conduct an exclusive radio interview with Tara Granahan on 630 WPRO tonight at 5:00 pm.

More information about GBN partnerships and the steering committee can be found at www.Gaspee.biz. Partnership levels begin at $200 per year. Unlike many other business groups, almost all GBN funds raised will be directly used for advocacy; with no salary and other high overhead cost obligations.

The Gaspee Business Network is an initiative of The Gaspee Project (GaspeeProject.com), a Rhode Island based 501-c-4 nonprofit, which organizes various constituency groups into action in support of pro-freedom, pro-business policies and candidates.
